Porto, the second largest Portuguese city, is located in the North of Portugal, on the right bank of the Douro River, just 300 Km’s (186 miles) from Lisbon.
Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, the city is as popular today for its history and culture as it has always been for the famous Porto wine.
The northern regions consume fish as well as a lot of meat dishes. Tripe is one of Porto’s specialties; other dishes include duck and chicken, the “sarrabulho”, a mixture of meats, vegetables and spices cooked in wine.
Porto is one of the last undiscovered European metropolises, a place that most people have never visited before. A mixture of monuments by leading world architects from the past and the present, and some fantastic baroque carvings, modern infrastructure and several top-end hotels to choose from, Porto, has all the right ingredients for a successful international conference or incentive programme.
